In the heart of London, City of Westminster Libraries were well hidden. Using ‘Explore your library’ as our starting point, we brought words and quotes to life in, on and around the libraries.

Church Street Library is built on the site of the theatre where Charlie Chaplin first performed. We used a quote from the iconic comedian to connect the library to its history, its surroundings and its visitors. And we introduced big arrows across the library estate to create drama and help borrowers navigate easily.

What we did

We rebranded the City of Westminster Libraries, bringing the network out of the shadows with a campaign built around ‘Explore your library’. Our approach used words, quotes, and local history to connect each library to its surroundings and visitors — including a Charlie Chaplin quote at Church Street Library, built on the site where he first performed. We introduced bold directional arrows across the estate to create visual drama and help borrowers navigate with ease.
