Our commitment

David Carroll & Co is committed to making its website accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We aim to meet Level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 as a minimum standard.

Compliance status

This website is compliant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. All previously identified issues have been resolved. No open issues remain from our most recent audit, conducted in April 2026.

Issues resolved

The following issues were identified across two internal audits and have all since been fixed.

Fixed March 2026

Focus indicators removed globally (WCAG 2.4.7, 2.4.11) — A CSS rule was stripping keyboard focus outlines from all interactive elements. Visible focus indicators are now applied to all links, buttons, and form fields.

Email input missing autocomplete attribute (WCAG 1.3.5) — All email fields across our contact and newsletter forms now carry the correct autocomplete="email" attribute.

Fixed April 2026

No skip navigation link (WCAG 2.4.1) — A “Skip to main content” link is now present and accessible to keyboard and screen reader users.

Mobile navigation menu button had no accessible name (WCAG 4.1.2) — Both the open and close menu buttons now carry aria-label and aria-expanded attributes.

Arrow and icon images in links had empty alt text (WCAG 1.1.1, 2.4.4) — All links containing icon images now carry descriptive aria-label attributes on the parent link element.

Duplicate and empty H1 tag (WCAG 1.3.1, 2.4.6) — The blank H1 element generated by the theme has been removed. Each page now contains a single, descriptive H1.

Social media links opened in a new tab without warning (WCAG 3.2.2) — LinkedIn and Instagram footer links now include aria-label attributes that indicate the link opens in a new tab.

Iframe missing title attribute (WCAG 4.1.2) — The iframe has been removed from the homepage. No untitled iframes remain on the site.

Images missing or inadequate alt text (WCAG 1.1.1) — All 174 images across the site were reviewed and updated with descriptive alt text as part of a full media library audit.

Technical information

This website is built on WordPress. We use a custom theme and Gravity Forms for contact and newsletter functionality. Assistive technologies we have tested against include keyboard-only navigation and VoiceOver (macOS/iOS). We plan to extend testing to NVDA (Windows) as part of ongoing improvements.
